EMPLOYMENT SELECTION POLICY
All employment applications must be on a form furnished by the Housing Authority. Resumes may be submitted with employment applications provided they do not contain family or personal data. Applications for employment will only be accepted for positions the Little Rock Housing Authority (LRHA) is trying to fill.
A Selection Committee (appointed by the Executive Director, and consisting of two persons plus the immediate job supervisor) will screen applicants as to the most suitable according to the job requirements. An objective selection criteria will be established for the further rating and ranking of those most qualified, consisting of one or more of the following:
A rating of experience and training
An interview by the Selection Committee
An oral or written test
A performance or demonstration test
The provisions of the Housing Authority’s Affirmative Action Plan will be considered.
The Housing Authority will hire only job applicants who can read well enough to follow safety instructions and safely handle hazardous materials with which they may come into contact during their employment. A reading test will be administered to job applicants being considered for employment. Temporary, part-time, or employees hired for the purposes of lawn care and debris removal will be exempt from the reading requirements.
Before an applicant is appointed to a position with LRHA, is believed to have a health impairment that may affect his/her work performance, a physical examination may be required by a physician designated by the Housing Authority. The Housing Authority will furnish the examining physician with a copy of the position description of the job to be filled by the applicant. Should this examination show that the applicant is not physically fit for the duties to be performed, the appointment will not be made.
